@Hollysoats Chocolate Maple Popcorn Oats

If there’s anyone who knows Oat Bowls, its Holly from @hollysoats. Whilst you can’t go wrong with a good bowl of porridge, Holly’s Instagram offers up some stunning ways to amp up the most important meal of the day with delicious flavour combinations and stunning presentation. Our favourite has to be Holly’s Chocolate Maple Popcorn Oats for its hearty, rich flavour and amazing mix of textures – a new morning staple for us and ready in under 10 minutes!Joe’s Top Tips! - Did you know you can meal prep and reheat porridge?? Double or quadruple the base porridge ingredients and keep in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. It’s super simple to reheat, simple add the amount you wish into a bowl with a splash of milk, dairy-free alternative or just water and reheat in the microwave, adding more liquid if necessary. Just add your toppings when you are ready to eat and enjoy!

Method

  1. Pour the oats, water and milk into a small saucepan, bring to the boil, then simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally and watching it carefully so it doesn’t stick to the bottom (we love a silicon spatula for this!)

  2. Add the protein powder and mix until incorporated, heat for another minute before turning the heat off and adding the chia seeds, stirring ‘til incorporated. The chia seeds will thicken up the mixture so if it gets too thick, add a dash of hot water or milk!

  3. To make the chocolate fudge sauce, Holly mixed together half a banana with 1 tsp cacao powder, a squeeze of plant-based liquid sweetener and 1 tsp of cashew butter – microwave for 30 seconds!

  4. Pour the oats into a bowl and add the chocolate fudge sauce, the Joe & Seph’s Honey & Hazelnut Gourmet Popcorn, and the rest of the delicious toppings and your delicious and balanced start to the day is ready!
